Which Martial Art should I study ?
It depends upon your objectives, but remember that even these may change over time.
Many people who begin training to learn self-defense become interested in other aspects as their training progresses.
What are you looking for?
For instance, if you are looking for street self-defense training, some
options may be, Jui-Jitsu, Tae Kwon Do, Karate, Hapkido, Tang Soo Do, Muay Thai, or Kempo.
If you are looking
for meditation and philosophy, some choices may be Aikido, Tai Chi, Kendo, most systems of Kung Fu, Aikido, Tai Chi, Kendo,
Kenjutsu, or Iaido.
If you are looking for sport competition, you could look into Fencing, Jui-jitsu, Judo, Submission
Wrestling, Boxing, Muay Thai, and some Karate/Kung Fu/Tae Kwon Do systems.
If intense body conditioning and muscle
development are your goals,Submission Wrestling, Muay Thai, Tae Kwon Do, Judo, and some Okinawan styles could be the right
fit for you.
Ask around
The advice of many Martial Arts students who have
had the same decision to make is to call around, ask family/friends, visit a number of schools, ask a lot of questions, and
then decide. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time to weigh all aspects of the decision, and don't be pressured into
committing to a school/style that may not fit your needs.
Mid Valley Martial Arts
is a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) school. Our program focuses on stand up Kickboxing, and ground fighting techniques. Used
in many competition formats, and street-applicable self-defense. We believe total body fitness is very important to martial
arts training. This includes emphasis in cardiovascular fitness, flexibility and strength training.
